Primary Therapist

A native of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Steven Adlen has been in long-term recovery for more than 22 years. His own experience with addiction and its effects on his life, relationships, and future became the foundation for a recovery journey centered on personal growth, accountability, and service to others. Having lived through some of the worst years of the opioid epidemic, including exposure to the crisis in Kensington, Philadelphia, Steven brings both personal and professional perspective to his work with clients.

Steven attended Monmouth University, Barry University, and Palm Beach State College. He is a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) through the Florida Certification Board and an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium. Earning those credentials took about two years of supervised experience and more than 6,000 hours of fieldwork.

He has worked professionally in addiction treatment since 2014 and became certified in 2016. His experience spans residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient care.

As Primary Therapist at Palm Beach Gardens Recovery, Steven brings together lived recovery experience and professional training. That combination allows him to connect authentically with clients while understanding both the challenges and the hope in the recovery process. His work is grounded in dignity, accountability, and the conviction that people do recover.

Beyond his clinical work, Steven is committed to mental health awareness, family healing, and community education because he believes they save lives and strengthen communities.

What he finds most rewarding is seeing clients rebuild relationships, regain confidence, and create meaningful lives in recovery. He hopes his work contributes to reducing stigma around addiction and demonstrates that long-term recovery is possible.
