Why Palm Beach Gardens Recovery Was Founded

The Experience That Shaped Our Approach

Palm Beach Gardens Recovery’s founder, TJ Scaparotti, grew up in Massachusetts and went on to play Division I and professional hockey. As his hockey career came to an end, he experienced a difficult transition that included struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. He eventually came to Florida to seek treatment, beginning a recovery process that changed the direction of his life.

In the years that followed, TJ became involved in the recovery community and began working in the addiction treatment field. His personal experience helped him understand how difficult it can be to ask for help, enter treatment, and rebuild a life outside of active addiction. His professional experience also showed him the importance of ethical care, clinical accountability, and giving each client meaningful attention.

TJ founded Palm Beach Gardens Recovery in 2023 to create the kind of treatment environment he believed clients deserved: one where qualified clinicians guide care, leadership remains accessible, and the person receiving treatment is never reduced to a diagnosis or a place on a schedule.

“I wanted to build a place where people receive responsible care and know that the people running the center are paying attention to how they’re actually doing.”

— TJ Scaparotti, Founder

Today, TJ remains directly involved in the daily operation of Palm Beach Gardens Recovery and its sober living homes. He is on site five days a week and often six, working closely with the team, helping address clients’ practical needs, and staying informed about how they are progressing. His continued presence reflects the responsibility he feels toward the people who place their trust in Palm Beach Gardens Recovery.

Our Approach to Outpatient Treatment

Our approach combines evidence-based treatment and trauma-informed care with practical recovery planning. Alongside care for substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions, your treatment addresses the routines, relationships, responsibilities, and relapse risks that shape recovery outside the facility, so what you learn in sessions holds up in everyday life.

Clinical Leadership

Clinical decisions at Palm Beach Gardens Recovery are made by caring, licensed medical and clinical professionals. Our knowledgeable medical and clinical directors directly conduct your ASAM-based assessment and lead your treatment planning, while therapists, medical providers, and case managers contribute insight from their respective areas of care.

This coordinated oversight helps ensure that recommendations for level of care, medication decisions, and treatment changes are based on your clinical needs rather than a standardized approach.

What You Can Expect from Palm Beach Gardens Recovery

You can expect a structured schedule, clear expectations, and direct communication about your care. At Palm Beach Gardens Recovery, you will know who to speak with when questions or practical concerns arise, and you will be encouraged to understand and participate in the decisions affecting your treatment. This approach combines accountability with respect for where you are in the recovery process.

Who Does Palm Beach Gardens Recovery Serve?

Palm Beach Gardens Recovery serves adults 18 and older seeking outpatient treatment for alcohol or drug addiction, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions. We treat adults of all genders and offer specialty programs for veterans and first responders whose backgrounds may affect how they experience treatment and recovery.

Outpatient care is not appropriate for every person or every stage of addiction. Your clinical assessment helps determine whether PHP, IOP, or OP can provide the structure and support you need. If medical detox or a higher level of care is necessary, Palm Beach Gardens Recovery can help you understand the appropriate next step.
