Born in Madras, India, Dr. Ranga Rathakrishnan came to the United States with his parents at the age of four. He earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 2000 and completed his internal medicine residency there in 2003. He is board-certified in internal medicine and serves as an assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and in the internal medicine residency program shared by the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center and HCA Florida JFK Hospital.
Dr. Rathakrishnan has worked in addiction treatment for approximately four years. His introduction to addiction medicine came through a friend and colleague already working in the field, whose experience encouraged him to become involved in treating substance use disorders.
At Palm Beach Gardens Recovery, Dr. Rathakrishnan draws on both Eastern and Western perspectives in his approach to care. He believes in taking the strengths of each and incorporating them into a holistic model. For Dr. Rathakrishnan, good health starts with nutrition and a healthy environment, including the people surrounding an individual.
What he values most about addiction medicine is seeing people overcome substance use and break free of it. His goal is straightforward: to provide the best care he can and help the people he treats live their best lives.
